The first cricket team in Schweinfurt was born from an idea, the initiative of (former) international students at the I-Campus and some fugitives who know cricket as a national sport from their home country. Since April 2019, the team, with about 20 young men from India, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh, has been participating in the league under the name “Schweinfurt Warriors XI”, as an integral part of the Turngemeinde Schweinfurt.

Supported by the city of Schweinfurt, above all by the second mayor Sorya Lippert, the founding process was accompanied by the Idealverein für Sportkommunikation und Bildung (ISB) as part of its programme “Vereinint in Bewegung” (United in Motion), which aims to promote the social integration of young people with a migration background. This made it possible to initially procure basic equipment for this relatively material-intensive and therefore cost-intensive sport and to organise training opportunities.

TRIPS gmbh ensured a uniform appearance and urgently needed jerseys for the match operations, as the company itself employs several Indian and other international employees, making this partnership a perfect fit.

Schedules
Further home games will take place on 22 June, 7 July and 21 July from 11.30 a.m. on the large sports field of the Turngemeinde Schweinfurt
