ENERGY AUTOMATION

Substation Automation integrates protection, control and monitoring systems in substations, optimizes the energy flow and ensures safe, efficient and future-proof grid management.

Modern protection technology detects short circuits, overloads or earth faults at an early stage and selectively disconnects affected parts of the system from the mains to prevent damage and keep the supply stable.

Renewable energy sources such as wind turbines, solar fields and hydroelectric power plants generate a large proportion of our electricity today. In order for this to be transported efficiently, it first flows into substations. There, the voltage is transformed – from low generation voltages to high transmission voltages – so that the energy can be transported over long distances with virtually no losses.
