Your specialist for substation automation
– Safety, control and efficiency in energy distribution
Substation automation refers to the automated control and monitoring of substations. It increases grid reliability, reduces downtimes and enables economical, future-proof operation through real-time monitoring, rapid fault detection and remote access to all system components.
The SCADA system is the central control point for monitoring and controlling your energy system. It visualizes operating statuses, records data in real time, reports faults and supports the optimization of energy flows – locally or across locations.
In the substation automation, the SCADA system records all of the substation’s operating data in real time – such as voltages, currents, switching statuses or fault events. This data is visualized, analysed and archived. SCADA communicates directly with IEDs, RTUs and protection devices via standardized protocols such as IEC 61850, OPC UA or Modbus, thus enabling the central control and monitoring of all system components – even across different locations. This creates a consistent, highly available energy automation system with fast response times and secure remote access.
Depending on the requirements, we use SIPROTEC devices for distance protection, differential protection, overcurrent protection or earth fault detection. Parameterization is carried out via DIGSI – individually tailored to your network structure and system requirements.
Grid calculations such as short-circuit and load flow analyses provide an important basis for planning and design. They ensure that protection systems, transformers and control systems work together optimally – efficiently, safely and in compliance with standards.
